Fall is here and you know what that means – it’s Teeth Week time! Or, as the Mighty Mouth Campaign says, it’s the week your body has been waiting for!
Smile Spokane, along with the Mighty Mouth Campaign and the SmileMobile are coming together to share the importance of good oral health and to encourage people to do more to prevent oral disease.
We are kicking off Teeth Week by bringing the SmileMobile to Spokane from October 6 -8. Our amazing Smile Mobile team will be providing emergent dental treatment for adults without dental insurance and unable to access care. Appointments can be made by calling 509-904-7709 between the hours of 9:00a.m. and 4:00 pm, September27-October 5. A special shout out to The Salvation Army Spokane Citadel for being the SmileMobile host for the third year in a row.
How about those dental providers who do an amazing job of making your visit to the dentist as comfortable as possible and provide excellent care? We think Teeth Week is a great time to recognize them! Visit Smile Spokane on Facebook to nominate your favorite oral health pro. You could win a $50 gift certificate to Clinkerdager Restaurant for yourself AND the person you nominate. Wouldn’t that be a great surprise for your favorite dentist, hygienist, assistant or office support person, not to mention for you, if you are the lucky winner?
To make Teeth Week even more fun, we are adding a new contest! The person or agency with the highest number of #Smile Spokane, #Teethweek, or #TogetherWeCan posts during Teeth Week will receive a $50 gift certificate to your favorite local pizza place. Just think of how happy your peeps would be if you provided a pizza lunch for the team to enjoy? Visit the Smile Spokane website for a complete social media toolkit, including sample posts, tweets and other great ideas.
While we like to have fun during Teeth Week, its unfortunately not all fun and games for too many in our community with high levels of tooth decay. With 1 in 3 Spokane adults having lost one or more teeth to decay, and with kindergarten children in Spokane being more likely to have rampant decay than their peers statewide, we have some serious work to do. Become a Smile Spokane partner today and be a part of making our community healthier for everyone.
And one last thing – take a minute to learn more about effective prevention strategies including fluoride, sealants, regular dentist visits and more. You’ll be glad you did because prevention saves money and improve health.!
